My Vivace Microneedling Treatment

A few weeks ago, I had the opportunity to try out the Vivace Microneedling treatment at Bella Tu Med Spa in Nyack, NY.  I’ve been wanting to try out this professional grade treatment for some time.  Vivace is an in-office skin rejuvenation treatment that combines the benefits of radiofrequency energy and microneedling.  This FDA-cleared, minimally-invasive treatment stimulates the natural production of collagen and is shown to be effective in alleviating facial wrinkles, fine lines, and tightening and toning the face, neck, hands, and body.  Microneedling, combined with radio frequency, provides heat to stimulate your body’s own natural collagen production, which leads to tighter, younger-looking skin.

The Vivace team sent me a PR kit awhile ago after I won the Olivia Culpo instagram contest, but my schedule did not align to receive the treatment in New York City.  Flash forward to this year, the kit went untouched until Bella Tu approached me to test out the device at their charming Nyack, NY location.  I was super excited to finally give the treatment a go!

I was unfamiliar with Bella Tu Med Spa, but I was quickly put to ease when I discovered that their team is comprised of established, highly experienced physician assistants, registered nurses, and medical estheticians with years of training in laser treatments, cosmetic injectables, and medical grade peels.  Knowing that highly skilled professionals would be delivering the treatment was comforting to me.

Arriving at the spa, I was impressed with the comforting, relaxed space.  Each room is set up for its designated treatment.  Erin, one of the medical estheticians, greeted me warmly and confidently explained the entire Vivace microneedling process to me.  First, she asked me if I had any questions or concerns going into the treatment.  We went through some FAQ, and she expertly addressed every question.

Microneedling works by applying sterile microneedles to create many microscopic channels deep within the dermis of the skin.  These microscopic channels stimulate collagen production.  Whereas microneedling rollers and some derma-pens often lead to tearing, pain, and mixed outcomes, premium microneedling devices are designed to deliver more precise, deeper, and pain-free results.  By combining with radiofrequency, RF energy is delivered at the desired depths to promote remodeling of collagen and elastin and to tighten and lift the skin.

She explained that my skin would be cleaned and prepped, and a numbing medication would be applied to my face to ease any discomfort I might feel during the microneedling process.  Having done a Lutronic Genius microneedling treatment in New York City back in October with Dr. Justin Harper and the Lutronic team, I knew what to expect pain wise.  This treatment was a lot less painful, perhaps because Erin really allowed an ample time for the numbing medications to sink in before beginning the microneedling.  She even gave me a relaxing foot massage while I was getting numbed up!

The microneedling treatment itself took no more than 45 minutes.  Red or blue light compliments each treatment.  The red light is anti-aging and targets wrinkles, whereas the blue light targets acne.  I chose the red light.  The process was completely pain free!  It’s recommended that a series of three treatments will provide the best results.

All in all, I loved my Vivace Microneedling treatment at Bella Tu Med Spa, and I can’t wait to go back to try other services!  They have a VIP Facial Club, which looks so good!  It’s $89 a month for a facial.  You can add in other upgrades, you get a free hydrofacial every 6 months, and you get free filler on your anniversary. I’ve never done filler before, but I know how expensive that is alone.  Be sure to check out the spa for Vivace and other treatments!
