This past weekend, I was happy to sneak away to my parents’ house on the Jersey Shore. It felt good to get some salt water back in my veins. Isn’t life always better at the beach? Although it rained like crazy on Saturday, I was able to squeeze in a walk on the beach before the soggy weather commenced.
What I like most about autumn at the shore is that while I can still stay cozy in my vests and knits, I’m able to accessorize with some of my fun nautical pieces, like these anchor boat shoes. I picked them up over the summer on super sale — like under $25! Here’s an awesome tip I learned for tightening up the overall feel of the shoe — pinch the shoe width-wise, give the leather laces a firm tug, and continue to ease the laces through the grommets. My boat shoes tend to soften up a lot with wear, so making these little adjustments keep the shoe feeling snug.
In other news, I can’t wait to get my hair highlighted tomorrow… #HolyRoots! For the past three years, I’ve only highlighted my hair once every twelve months. After some disastrous hairdresser experiences, I found a great colorist who can work his magic to stretch highlights into a subtle ombré. My hair is so much healthier now! Plus, my wallet is a lot thicker. More money for the important things — like shoes! *wink*
